Thomas L. Cox, Jr.
Tom Cox graduated from the Southern Methodist University School of Law after earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas. He began private practice with Gary Sibley in 2005, specializing in health care law and real estate. From 2013 – 2015, Tom Cox also served as General Counsel for Phytel, Inc., a medical software company as it was acquired by Watson (IBM).
Tom Cox was General Counsel for the Dallas County Hospital District and Parkland Health and Hospital System for 25 years. He managed all legal activities and litigation. This included administrative law, contract negotiations, medical malpractice, real estate, regulatory, reimbursement, compliance and collections.
His professional community service includes the Texas State Board of Insurance Advisory Committee for Preferred Provider Rules and Attending Faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Tom Cox's memberships include the Texas Bar Association--Health Law Section, Dallas County Bar Association, and American Health Lawyers Association.
Tom Cox has also been involved in the Texas Foundation for Health Sciences, served as a board member for three City of Dallas Tax Increment Financing Districts and the Age of Steam Museum.
Tom is licensed to practice in the State of Texas; Texas Federal District Courts; U. S. Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Ninth, and Tenth Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Court of Claims.
